Conference Objectives

The main objective of the conference are:

  1. To share experiences, knowledge and innovations for building resilient agricultural production systems, ecosystems and livelihoods.
  2. To collate and synthesize information and knowledge on ecosystems resilience and agricultural productivity that informs policy and attainment of SDGs
  3. To cultivate avenues for improved research and publication focused on the critical regional issues tailored to ecosystems, natural resource management, agricultural productivity and climate risk management;
  4. To facilitate collaboration, interaction and networking among scientists, the private sector and government leaders.

Outputs and Outcomes

The following outputs and outcomes are envisaged from the conference:

  1. A book by Springer Science+Business on the basis of the conference papers presented published;
  2. Book to regional libraries and institutions distributed;
  3. Opportunities to inform policy and decision makers on sustainable agricultural development pathways, climate adaptation and mitigation and natural resource management created;
  4. Competencies of young scientists built and improved;
  5. Conference proceedings published;
  6. A selected set of papers in a special issue of the Rural Development Journal spearheaded by the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) published;
  7. Collaboration, partnership and networking among participating scientists and institutions strengthened.
